Types of casino bonuses explained
Welcome bonus, reload, cashback, no-deposit bonus, and birthday gift — the differences explained simply.
Bonus names vary between casinos, but almost every offer fits into a handful of clear categories.
Welcome bonus
Credited on a new player's first 1–3 deposits. Usually a percentage of the deposit (say 125–150%) with a fixed cap — e.g. "125% up to €600". The welcome package is often split into separate tiers for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd deposit, each with its own percentage and cap.
Reload bonus
Similar to a welcome bonus but recurring (typically weekly) for already-registered players. Often requires a minimum VIP tier and a minimum deposit total for the period.
No-deposit bonus
Credited without needing to top up your balance — for example, for registering, confirming your email, or on your birthday. Amounts are usually smaller than deposit bonuses, but the risk to the player is lower too.
Cashback / rakeback
A partial refund of losses over a set period (day, week, month). The percentage typically grows with your bet or deposit total and VIP tier — top tiers can see 8–10% cashback or higher, sometimes with no wagering requirement at all.
Birthday bonus
An annual gift available on the player's birthday (and usually for a few days after). The amount often depends on VIP tier and deposit history over the month before the date.
